Best Drivers 2026: Full Test & Data Breakdown

Every driver in this test was purchased at retail price and hit for a minimum of 30 recorded swings per tester across three testers with swing speeds ranging from 92 to 108 mph. We logged ball speed, smash factor, spin rate, launch angle, and total carry for every swing, then averaged the middle 20 shots per club to remove mishits from the data.

The biggest surprise this year: the driver with the highest average ball speed in our data wasn't the most expensive model tested. It had a slightly smaller sweet spot on off-center strikes, which showed up clearly in our mishit-tolerance testing, but for testers who found the center of the face consistently, it out-performed clubs costing $150 more.

Forgiveness is where the real spread showed up. We measured ball speed retention on strikes 15mm off-center from the face center, and the gap between the most and least forgiving drivers in this test was over 6 mph of ball speed — roughly 12-15 yards of real-world distance lost on a mishit.
